Well, actually it is a laptop from a "local" company which is Best Technologies. I think they have used Clevo/Kapok motherboards in other of there laptops. I don't think that there is any more information in the POST, under the AMI BIOS logo it says: AMIBIOS MOBILE '98 PCI/PNP, BOOTBLOCK, ACPI BUILD...

For example, does "BIOS Agent" read what motherboard you have or does it compare the BIOS ID-string it identifies with an internal list of ID-strings ? Yes, that would be easy - if I could reboot the computer (server)! If I could identify the BIOS ID-string then I could take down the server for maintence (newer CPU, bigger HDD, more RAM) - but I can't take it down just for look at the BIOS ID-string!

I've tried that "BIOS Patcher" for some old Pentium motherboards that I have and it worked like a charm. But now I wonder. What about adding 48-bit LBA on old motherboards, is it technical possible or is that chipset/hardware limitations ? Would be pretty cool to have a 250GB disk in your old Pentiu...
