Hi, I don't know if you guys know this or not but if you press f11 instead of f1 the bios setup gives you more options for turning off the fan monitor. Example press f11 then go to advanced then scroll down to hardware monitor.

I got an Uknown Device after installing Windows XP Pro onto a Media Center PC (HP a1330n). Anyone know what it is? I had an HP online helper tell me once it was "something old just for my knowledge installed and not used on the hp board."

Update: I got the 1003 BIOS from a kind soul in Finland and successfully flashed it. Does anyone know what improvements it offers over the 0902 BIOS? I can't see any differences. :)


The A8N5X motherboard is currently shipping with BIOS 1003. However, Asus has still not posted this update on their ...

1) Yes, it was preloaded with Windows Media Edition.
2) There is an exhaust fan present in the case
3) The CPU is an AMD Athlon 64bit processor, but the exact speed I am not sure of as I'm at work and not in front of it.

A few questions to help pinpoint this issue:

- If I understand correctly, your system originally came with Windows Media Center?
- Did it also come with an exhaust fan installed at the rear?
- What CPU did it come with?

Regarding the 3.14 bios, I suspect it's for the HP/Compaq Media Center systems that use the same A8AE-LE motherboard or a version of it. I say this because:

- The AMD Away driver is used in conjunction with "AMD Live," which is multimedia-related.

- The Media Center systems are sold with higher ...

I purchased this Compaq SR1650NX and it's constantly running at 30%, Is it possible I need to upgrade to 3.14? I am currently running 3.13, It's unbearable to watch movies, hell, I can't. HP keeps telling me to reinstall my OS.

I had the same problem after updating to 3.14--unknown device driver with the same string.

I did some googling and found out that this is the AMD Away driver. AMD has released a null driver to make this go away, and it is available for download ...

Got the new BIOS 3.14, thanks to Edwin. Flashed immediately with Winflash and system running like new.

Note: Windows reports one new unknown device found--I'll have to track this down--I've disabled it for now.
