What is your processor? Intel or AMD?

If AMD then you really must take action towards the overheating or you will end up without a CPU.

For known computer manufacturers, (like HP, Toshiba Sony and such), always check their website.

For Toshiba I recommend to use Google because their website is way tooo much complicated and if you search you find nothing.

This is what I do when I get these kinds of computer stupidities.

unplug the power,
remove battery,
reset the CMOS using the jumper (usually around the battery, you move it to position 2-3, wait 2 seconds, and then move it back to 1-2),
plug in power,
insert battery,
start computer

enter BIOS ...

maybe it was a hard disk problem? (MBR damage)

because after Verifying DMI pool, the system wants to boot, if there is nothing to boot from, then you may get a blank screen (if it is a corrupted Windows XP startup) otherwise, an error.

I found a person who has VER1.04 of my BIOS

it's been like a year I am using the new BIOS. Indeed it's better than the old one. but I am seeking for a new update because the computer still has minor performance issues (sometimes it crashes especially in Vista)

if someone can help me out...

as Deniss said, the jumper is usually close to the mainboard's battery and shorting pins 1-2. remove it and short pins 2-3 for a while and then put it back to the original position (1-2).

Note that you must disconnect the computer's power cable before doing the procedure.

are you sre that your power supply cables/voltages are fine? any voltage drop can cause your problem.

There must be something wrong with your RAMs or VGA card (or maybe CPU but usually in this case the fans or HD wont start, so most prbably your CPU is fine).

First, remove any unnecessary card from the motherboard, (including USB devices)

Remove the VGA card and power up. If you see your hard disk ...

Buy a thermal grease, remove the heatsink, remove the fan, clean them both from any dust (you will see BIG pieces of SH*T), remove the existing thermal paste (on both CPU and heatsink) and apply the new one.

You can also prevent this from happening in the future by adding a fan over the CPU's fan ...

did you try putting your drives in Cable Select mode? this makes them faster and their recognition is easier.

I have one more question.

I only updated the MainBlock of the BIOS through Winflash. I skipped the DMI and ESCD areas. Is it OK? These can be reset through the main BIOS right?
