I too am having trouble writing DMI strings on my Asus motherboard. It's a P5A with Award BIOS.
Lots of tools will read the DMI info but none can write. I am running the Beta v.1011 5 BIOS because it supports large HDDs.
I am comfortable with hex editing, but cannot find any strings in the .awd file ...
