I tend to agree. Sometimes the problem is the bios chip, and a new one will fix it, but many times there is something wrong with the CMOS memory in the chipset, and there is no fixing that. Still, a replacement bios chip is cheaper than a new motherboard, and may be worth the risk. Be aware that the...

If your board came in a Maker Make system like HP, Compaq, or Gateway, you may not have a standard motherboard and the Asus bios may not work. Try the bios file from the computer maker if that is the case. We see this all the time where the Big Company saves a few cents per board my leaving off stuf...

msi k7t266 Pro2-RU answer

MX and ASD chips
capisi is quoting text from my response to him. The statements about MX and ASD and HT chips is based on our personal experience with these chips. HT are Hsing Tech house marked MX chips like the MX28F1000. When these are sent to us to be reflashed they are nearly always unusable. In the case of the...

How to fix it
If you haven't cleared your CMOS using the jumper, do so. Then enter SETUP and try to fix anything that default settings aren't good for. We see loads of boards corrupted by LIVE BIOS, LIVE UPDATE and the like. Replace LIVE with DEAD and you'll have a more accurate picture of what happens. If that d...
