Actually now that I think about it, most likely that system would need a new hard drive controller card in order to read new drives. The one supplied (if any) is most likely a MFM or something like that; Predating standard IDE... From that email, it sounds like a standard year 2000 BIOS upgrade that...

Look for a pair of pins near the battery marked EXT BAT or something to that effect. Usually a pair of 4 pins in a row. That might be an external battery connector. If not, then rip off the old battery using some cutters and get one of these: http://www.techadvice.com/tech/images/battery/Rayovac840a...

Probably because the new BIOS has a different string. BIOS Version : Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG Information : 07/19/2001-8363-686-K7VZAC-00 BIOS Message : MS8127C 07/19/2001 BIOS ID : K7VZA There is no place for D4 like in your current BIOS string. It wouldn't surprise me if Matsonic used a DFI stri...

Manual: http://www.mycomp.com.tw/manual/ti5vgp1f.pdf The Ti5vg+ supports bus speeds of 60, 66, 75, 83 and 100 MHz. It supports Intel Pentium/MMX, AMD K5/K6/K6-2/K6 III, Cyrix 6x86/6x86MX/MII...so the highest you can do is a 550Mhz K6-2 assuming the multiplier goes to 5.5 (I did not bother to look at...
