fortunately p111s specs cpus are feasably affordable nowadays,i use these today thankyou intel for the brand new 1.4s spec $7 cpus. :twisted:
now i dont need to even bother with any over expensive dual cores,with dumber os system integration support,instead just load the xpsp3 cd all drivers loaded ...

you can flash a dos based f1 bypass mod on the nvram(called no f1boot) so it lets the machine run as per normal,without the need to hit the f1 button anymore.
i did this on a ipaq pc with a tualatin adapter and pentium 3 s 1.4ghz cpu,the pc runs flawlessly + very fast regardless,as for the dumb 1801 ...

northwoods smoke the prescotts anyway ,heck even the 256 cache pin modded mobile jobs do the numbers on em,mghz for mghz anyways.

dells + ibm are good for playing dumb with newer spec cpus at times.
i had a similar experience with a 5100laptop that could not run a speedstep mobile 3.06 ghz cpu at max speeds,so instead of ordering athe over expensive 3.06 non speedstep cpu,i simply pin modded a mobile 2.4/400 cpu to 3.2/533 ...

my daughter once forced one of the 3 pins back which rendered the dell inoperative,fortunately i noticed that and pryed out the pin with her mothers tweezers,been beaut ever since.

I am pondering about the 600e/x ability to run good speed with generic compact flash/udma spec notebook drive adapters.

even at 33mbps ata host,theres ample enough speeds,with the potential for superfast random reads.

anyone tried sd flash hdd on a 600e as yet!

wierd,despite the latest 07 spec bios,it seems ibm are too naive to enable support for the dothan co stepping cpus (ie sl8XXX instead of only sl7xxx).

this wierd situation allows the 1.7ghz co step cpu to function only at 600mghz speeds,yet when i decide to use cpu msr in xp,sure enough i can ...

try f8 prompt + select last known good config,if no go,repower f8 then try safe mode,+ uninstall the video drivers ,if no go ,repower f8 then try enable vga mode,if no go install the same xp os cd repower after it loads ,select repair go into black page select os # ,password or enter if none then on ...

hi ye all,just worth noting in xp i run cpu msr,i load the saved file into my documents then copy that file to c or d/documents+settings/all users/start menu/programs/startup and presto you wouldnt even know its there as it silently loads each power cycle time. :wink:

check bios settings for hdd are set to udma also in device manager check,set all irq allocations to auto or bios defaults if no auto seetings,
disable system restore completely (only good for harbouring viruses+parasites,besides reinstall over is allways faster,if you know how to get to the ol files ...

ibm deliberately deployed a bios to limit the future use of the 765d thinkpad,that doesn't stop me ...

better off running the northwood cpu ,even the celeron northwood with 256l2 cache outperforms the crappy power hungry overheating 1mb prescotts mghz for mgz because of the significantly straighter +more efficient l2 quad pumping pipeline arrangment,and obvious 95% native programs that respond better ...

I fitted dual hp4150 thermal mats with arctic silver 3 + 1.58 vcore
it passed a virus loading test (cpu killed the process after it got real hot)a
instead of blue screen,then immedietaly ran sis soft sandra high stress 98% cpu load,burn in test for approx 45 minutes ,temps averaged 85c +peaked @89c ...

for tp390x anyway use sharedocs tp600e cpu mod recommendations.
deepsleep progam works a treat, 850 mghz no problem :wink:

the 390x supports p111 platform natively so no bios mods needed and cache works as per normal,however the 390e did not p111 platform ,so just like the tp600e will need bios ...
