Are the 108 overclock and speedstep mods stable? I hope so, that would be about a 30% performance boost!
Thanks.

Further Performance Upgrades?
I've upgraded my TP 600e to a 600 Mhz processor module (runs at 500MHz), have installed 512M memory modules, upgraded HDD to 40G, and upgraded the BIOS to latest IBM version, PowerLeap enabled L2 cache. Here is my question: What else can be done to get a little more performance out of my 600E or at ...

Got the hard drive to work.
Not sure exactly what it was, but I found an IBM firmware update for the Fujitsu drive on the IBM website and updated the BIOS to the latest version. It would still not boot the cloned drive, but did a clean XP install from CD and it worked.

Oh, forgot to mention, I did a clean install from XP disk and got the same error. The install could not actually complete because after XP install copies over the files, it reboots. This is where I got the same error. This is why I think it's a hardware, BIOS, or incompatiblity issue. All indication...

HDD upgrade BIOS problem?
I've already upgraded my 600e from 300Mhz to 600Mhz, though only runs at 500Mhz (for now), fixed 127 problem, etc., and upgraded memory to 512M and got the L2 cache to enable on boot in XP, thanks to this great thread. Have actually been using this for school for about 4 months, but needed to upgrad...

Thanks a bunch.
Thanks for the memory info. I just purchased two of the known good Kingston's on ebay for $49 USD each, so I will have 512M!. They are used, but supposed to be tested, and the best price for a single new Kingston was over $100. Looking forward to finally getting this working. I really need it for sc...

Trying to do this TP 600E upgrade, but am having problems. I installed a new 600MHZ processor module. #1 If I boot without the 256MB memory stick installed, I get the 127 error. Edited BIOS (02->A0 @ 20) to fix that and it fully booted a copy of Knoppix Linux with just the onboard 32MB, so I know pr...
