A WinMe bootdisk has excess baggage that isn't wanted for BIOS flashing. Click on the above link and get the DR DOS bootdisk image, and use it to format a floppy. Since you do not seem to have any other way of determining which of the two offered your laptop needs, try each of the BIOS. One of them ...

The BIOS on that page appears to be the answer to your problem. You will need to determine which of the two (the 246K or 239K) is the correct one for your machine. Once you have done that, go to www.bootdisk.com and get the BIOS flash DOS bootdisk image. Then unzip the files to the DOS bootdisk.

IMO, either your BIOS is corrupted, or there is some problem with the latest version and you harddrive. If you flash it again with no difficulties, and the problem persists, I would try to go back to the earlier BIOS which was working.

The other way would be to use the latest BIOS and reflash it the standard way. But if your harddrive is connected,(and in good working order) but not recognized by your motherboard, then yes, I think you need to reflash your BIOS

I mean go back to the previous BIOS. Most flash utilities give you the option to save your current BIOS when you flash. And most motherboard manufacturers list previous as well as the most current on their websites. An older version of the recovery BIOS is here, http://www.bios-drivers.com/drivers/1...

I suspect that the BIOS is corrupted, and only partly working. I would use the floppy to reflash the BIOS. If that does not work, then flash back to your previous BIOS.

I don't think there is a workaround for the size mismatch error with Uniflash. Your only hope is that the BIOS may be intact enough for you to put the chip back in the Tyan board and use the Phlash utility to flash the BIOS. There is virtually no chance of using Phlash in another motherboard, unless...

From the 105 BIOS Read Me: CAUTION: To update, make sure that you are using a Win95 or Win98 boot disk ONLY. Also make sure to press the F5 key immediately once the floppy disk starts to be used so that all memory resident programs will be blocked out. If this is not accomplished then you will get a...

Sorry to hear about the purchase of a standard K6-2 533. Those are one of the worst overclockers of the whole series. I had to bump the voltage up just to get the one I had to 550! I just formatted mine and installed Windows 2000. XP Pro gave it some problems playing certain video files. Win98 cured...

Well, that's a very poor attitude. They wrote the proprietary Toshiba BIOS, presumably for money. Why wouldn't they be willing to write another? or just make the small changes necessary to make entering the CMOS settings more than an exercise in futility. That it is a Phoenix rather than an Award ev...
