Check under Power Management for a heading like "State After Power Failure" or similar if this option is available and turned on when power is restored (switched on) the machine will boot up

Click search at the top of this page under the search for author section type "Sharedoc" without the quotation marks, this guy has forgotten more about modding the TP 600 series than most of us will ever know

Using the Everest utility should be able to identify all the components for you it may even have a link to the downloads , the home edition is freeware

XP should run fine on a 600E with at least 128 megs ram ,

in windows fn+F7 toggles between internal external & both displays

It has been a while, but as I remember to make any SCSI device bootable requires the SCSI card BIOS set to be set as active

At some point very early in the boot up sequence you will normally get a prompt to press a function key (Fx) to enter SCSI BIOS setup (Adaptec or whatever) from where it can ...

Try this ,

Power on the Thinkpad, let it boot to the screen where you can set the time using the bird cursor, at this point do not try to change anything just push back and hold (the momentary action push button type) power switch (on the left side just behind the modem connector) until it shuts ...

When you get to this screen ("I go to a weird screen with ON | OFF ") Switch off the Thinkpad by holding the on slider switch until it shuts down , this action saves the setting changes to the CMOS memory, then press hold the F1 key while you switch on the Thinkpad it should take you into the BIOS ...

This is how it is done

Press and hold the F1 key while you switch on the Thinkpad ,this will get you to the BIOS setup screen, click the Startup icon ,then the Power-on icon,check the boot sequence is set to
1 FDD, 2 CDROM, 3 HDD-1
if not click the Reset Icon and make it so
next click OK, Exit ...
