Here's my TP600X CPU upgrade story in detail, if someone sohould find it helpful...

My 600X was originally a non-speed-step 500MHz:

Machine-type model: 26458EG

Hello!!

Almost thought that my MMC-2 800MHz CPU module upgrade to a IBM Thinkpad 600X was a waste but now...

I CAN CONFIRM THAT THIS SOLUTION WORKS!!! Just changing the processor driver in WinXP did the trick!! Boots clean from XP with no F11 key or PSU unpluggings et.

Thinkpad 600X upgraded with MMC2 800MHz CPU - XP hangs!!

Hello all!

Recently upgraded my trusty old Thinkpad 600X with a 800 MHz MMC-2 module!

BIOS verison 11/30/99 - ITET55WW
Machine-type model: 26458EG
Slave controller version 10/08/99 - IHHT10WW

It runs at 800MHz, but only after unpluggung and replugging the power supply cord during the XP startup ...
