I currently have as my secondary computer a system with an asus p2l97 board that runs the i440lx chipset, with an award bios.

also in my posession is a 40gb western digital drive. my computer freezes when trying to detect said drive.

any help? or possibly a patched bios? i checked on the site and ...

there isnt one connected, just motherboad, processor, ram, floppy, and a graphics card.

tried two processors, three graphics cards, and two different sticks of ram, so im pretty sure its in the mobo itself, could be wrong though.

well damn, know a reliable online retailer for those?

as for sourcing these boards, is there a good secondhand retailer site, or would i need to hit ebay?

figured out that it doesnt matter if i use the k6-2 over my Cyrix mII, the jumpers only allow for 200 mhz worth of processing power and it cuts all my ram in half.

not the greatest conditions for WinXP pro.

would anybody have a good socket seven motherboard to suggest for my ...

just a quick update on the situation

im trying to do a bootblock flash, however the computer now only stays on for about 5 seconds and shuts off again, not even revving up the floppy drive.

any ideas?

it wasnt 32 mb sticks, but 4 8 mb sticks equating to 32.

one had four, two on either side, and the others had about 8 per side.

frankly im at my wits end, after frying my old socket seven about a year ago and moving to a socket a, which recently got fried.

and i have 256 mb pc133 sdram which is only showing as 64 mb
when i tested all other sticks of pc100 or pc133 they showed as half.

and when i tested edo ram

32 mb became 16mb (4 ...

after reading the included txt file, i see that it fixes a hard drive calculation error, but does it also fix compatibility with the K6-2?

i had an asus a7n8x mobo, and all was fine, till one day the rtc started going at about double speed, so i reset my cmos, booted it up, and got a your bios is corrupt message...

ive overclocked a few boards by jumpers with processors in that general mhz range, and about the only thing ive run into other than setting it too high, would be if your chipset doesnt seperate the pci bus, and the fsb, in which case you could run into some problems with anything onboard, video ...

my last bios got fried on an asus a7n8x, and so i sent it in to be reflashed, but they sent it back empty... so i got an old socket 7 junker from a friend, with 4 evo slots, and 2 sd slots, which i will assume wont read doublesided ram, because its only recognizing a fourth of what i have. it came ...
