28 Pin EPROM in 32Pin Socket - Can I install a 32pin EEPROM?
I have an old motherboard, FIC 486-GVT-2 which uses a 28-Pin EPROM (27C512) which is 64K Now, the last BIOS (4 years newer than the current one) for this board is 128K, so obviously I can't use the old chip But the socket is 32 pin, and with the old chip removed there is screened on the board "FROM ...

Tried but that didn't work either. It's as if this board just does not like celerons in any form, even the ones that are officially supported. Do you think, with all the different variations of this board under different brands, that it's possible a wrong BIOS update could break support for celeron ...

as an update to this... I recently got given a box of old computer bits, among these was an old socket 370 celeron - 433mhz. http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SL3BS.html Now this one is mendocino, not coppermine, so I figured it should work. right? doesn't work with that one either :( I then thought...

Changing Boot Sequence option to A,CDROM,C - is it possible?
I have several Award BIOS in older computers, and for boot sequence there are options like: A, C, CDROM C, CDROM, A A, C, SCSI But nowhere is the option as such in some other computers: A, CDROM, C is it possible to add (or to edit) one of the options in the sequence list to point to A, CDROM, C? It...

I think you may have found the problem, the CPU is a coppermine-128, but that board is so old I think it does not support them (there is no mention of it in the manual) I guess then I need a slot-socket adaptor if I were to run this. Thanks for correcting me with the dual/twin motherboard issue too :)

PCChips M748LMRT and Celeron 600Mhz
This board is dual Slot 1/Socket 370 board, I've got it running a slot 1 P2 350Mhz but I want to try a 600mhz skt370 celeron, but it doesn't POST. I upgraded to what I think is the latest BIOS (13-Feb-2001) which apparently increases CPU support up to 12x multiplier (so with 100mhz FSB should be 1.2...

It's an Asus P2B - the Mosel chip would appear to be the original - it had a phoenix sticker and an Asus sticker on it (informing me that it was bios version 1008) - although the board was 2nd hand when I got it. I had originally been using 1008 and the old chip until I tried to use windows XP, and ...

Oh, of course - I was reading the spec sheet as 2M Byte for some reason... I got another 2MBit/256kByte chip (SST) and it programmed fine. Only problem is I still get the 'Can't write ESCD' error I was getting which made me think the previous chip was going bad. Guess there's something wrong with my...

Substituting flash chips
Hi there, I would like to know about substituting BIOS roms for motherboard. for one, I am interested as to why my motherboard has a 2MB chip when the bios files are only 256KB. Therefore, is it nessecary to use a 2MB chip? can you use say a 1MB chip? the chip in question is a Mosel V29C51002T Thank...
