Code to change BIOS boot sequence
I once analysed an old AMI 386 BIOS with 128-bytes of CMOS RAM. In that particular case there were two 2-byte checksums. The first was at CMOS RAM addresses 2E-2F. It summed the contents of addresses 10h to 2Dh. The second was at 3E-3F and summed the contents of addresses 34h to 3Dh and 40h to 7Fh. ...

Pinouts: a great(er) collection...
I tried to email ajzchips concerning the following entry in the Collected Wisdom forum.
"Pinouts: a great collection...":
http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/topic2185.html
However the email bounced.
I just wanted to suggest that a better repository of pinouts is http://pinouts.ru/

What would happen if I remove the bios chip and power on...
I believe some old jumperless socket 7 motherboards would power up the CPU with an initially high voltage (because some socket 7 CPUs required as much as 4V) until they determined which CPU was present, and then the Vcore was reduced to the required level as specified by the BIOS. If the BIOS were a...

Vcore jumper settings - generic method (eg PCChips M577)
I notice that some motherboards encode the CPU core voltage jumpers in simple binary format. I suspect that in these cases the motherboard's power supply uses a D/A converter. Such a design makes it easy to fill in the undocumented voltage settings. The following example lists all the possible core ...

Chip reprogramming in Australia
I can reprogram many different kinds of chips, including PROMs, EPROMs, serial EEPROMs, flash EEPROMs, CPUs, PALs, as long as they are in dual in-line packages (DIPs).

List of AMIBIOS manufacturers and project IDs (version 1.3)
This is a list of manufacturers included in the man.dat file that ships with version 1.3 of AMI's motherboard identification utility: http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/BIOSutil/Ami/ManufV13/man.lst There may be some typos, either original ones, or as a result of unforeseen flaws in my decoding method.

I've just made a few minor corrections.
AMI's coding algorithm should be evident from the following programs:
