Thx for that Did change batt. as a matter of course. Did suspect the PS/2 port was at fault. There are no electrolyitcs at fault per se. All of the major lytics above 470uF test ok for ESR failures etc. As it is a PC Chips mobo, there is no fuse as such, rather it is just a solder link called F1. Th...

Cp, thanks for the input I have in fact determined a copy of the F7Beta BIOS has been patched for he purpose of the project I have in mind. As I cannot read the extracted uCode binary I possess, I assume this patched BIOS has the correct 06B1a and 06B4h CPUID. As I recall, BIOS extracts are in assem...

Cp Y - I am aware of the electrical differences between Tualatin and coppermine. I have seen others change the pin assignments (in line with your pic.) on Tualatin FC-PGA2 package to suit the earlier FC-PGA pin out. In fact, I believe I stated I would use a socket 370 FC-PGA2 to FC-PGA adapter which...

From pp.7-8 of the manual for the v1.0 mobo The multipier can be up to x16. The manual does suggest support for clock speeds higher than 1GHz and jumper selection can be set to suit. From p.13 of the manual at item 22, PIII 1GHz FSB 133 (Coppermine supported) SW1 is set for 133MHz FSB, PCI 33MHz SW2...

I do not want to alter them Seeking to determine if coppermine support for SL5FQ (FC-PGA2) is present as well as possibility of Tualatin support Of course, the latter would be subject to the VRM being able to power Tualatins as well as further, it will probably be necessary to use a Lin-Lin adaptor ...

Gigabyte GA-6VXDC7 v1.0 Mobo

I have been trying to extract the BIOS image - F7 beta to detemine the cpu ucode updates (if any). This is a 256k compressed image Only MMTool 2.22.1 can open the image, all later versions issue an error. However, when the bios file is loaded, no modules or BIOS details are shown. Is this due to the...

Hi

Would it be the case, Asrock BIOSes have a protection mechanism
which precludes use of a Willem programmer and dictates only
the Asrock supplied flash util should be used?

If so, how can I get around this with a Willem?
Can I get around this with a Willem?

Thx

Got round trying the EON plcc
Wrote the v1.8 BIOS image to the plcc with no problems.

Installed in mobo, problem persists, mobo will sit at
CPU reset and do nothing more.

Any suggestions?

No, I have not.

Would I be correct in asumming the internal segment
arrangement for the main memory blocks would have
no difference on how the device is addressed by the mobo?

I suspect not. Perhaps you can advise on this matter?

Thx

E, thx for responding In fact, if you DL the 1.8 bios package, the ucode updates are in a separate file called ucode.dat I assume then, the asrock flash util (ASRUBIOS.EXE) applies these separately from the main bios image. I don't know As the mobo is not working, I cannot use the asrock supplied ut...

No-go with this amended BIOS I suspect the BIOS chip may be damaged as it was exhibiting odd behaviour when I was coding the device. Eventually, I did get the Willem to write the image to the device. The system will still sit at a reset. I have an EON EN29F002AN 2MBit 256k x 8 device The key differe...

Still can't open any of these BIOS images off-line to insert a uCode update. I have copies of TINY OEM AMI BIOS versions 1.3 and 1.72 for those interested. Appears Edwin states Tiny never released any BIOS for this mobo. In that respect, I am probably wrong then. However, MSI only issued a v1.0 AMI ...
