it's not that i don't appreciate your input but : Are different speed SDRAM backwards compatible? To a certain extent, yes. You can use PC133 memory in a PC100 system and you can use PC100 memory in a 66MHz system, subject to the specifications of the motherboard. However, the memory will only run a...

same with other psu just got some hope to find out if it's the processor or the mobo without a processor swap because ami actually has a beep code for 'bad processor' however, if the cpu is dead i don't think the mobo will produce any beeps anymore :( oh, i also checked the caps and 2 are bulging - ...

I was actually referring to win xp settings (display going dim on a laptop is a power saving feature) tho if you should have power saving settings in bios, it would be best to disable these too. (i do not know if your bios has such settings since i don't own such a laptop) Same for standard display ...

think so, yes - there's a led on the mobo that comes on and when i boot up the cpu fan starts spinning
(only way to power down is to keep the button pressed for +- 5 sec)

i'm gonna try another power supply anyways later

just a guess : have u tried disabling power saving?
or use the standard display?

anyways, i don't really think this is a bios issue - maybe try ibm support

thanks! it's probably due to my mem configuration - i had a hard time getting it to work anyway (2xpc100, 1xpc133), plugging them in 1 by 1 in a very specific order and diagnostic programs never find all 3 (like bios agent, ...) Seems the bios is now catching up to it too ... As long as it keeps wor...

ok, let's get some things cleared out first: 1. Did you install the cdplayer yourself recently or was it in there and did it stop working? 2. Try booting from a floppy to see if dos can find your cdplayer : http://people.jyu.fi/~eejuviik/utils/boot622.exe (just download it, insert a floppy when it a...

try it, jumpered to master, connected alone on a properly connected ide cable
then get into the bios, use autodetect harddisks if you have it and/or make sure the disk entry is not set to none

hope this helps
