Bios chip compatibility for ASUS motherboard
Hello, I have a Asus MB P5K31-VM/S which misses the BIOS chip. I know it should have an 8 Mb chip, but i do not know exactly how to find if what i have will fit or not, just by trial and error method. Does it exist somewhere a list of chipset-> Bios chip compatibility sheet? or something similar? It...

Re: Foxconn and ECS Bios files needed
Hi Edwin, Latest update : 1. I managed to find a version of IDA which works :), that's one, but anyway IDA i do not think that will help me correct a bad checksum. I have to make some more investigations, but this a rather new field for me, dissecting BIOS'es with a dissembler Anyway i have a huge c...

Re: Foxconn and ECS Bios files needed
Hi, Well that's what i was looking for. So , the ECS it's just a warning message. I suspected this, since the editor opened the file and was able to display everything as normal. We will leave the ECS aside now as this board could have some issues with the chipset. As long as that's just a notificat...

Re: Foxconn and ECS Bios files needed
Update I retried with the re-downloaded tools. The same problems : 1. Foxconn 560A latest BIOS file from their website when loaded into the Award SLIC tool and Verified gives an error like this : " Module 769F1P05.bin has an invalid check sum. Could this be normal considering that Award from 4.55 up...

Re: Foxconn and ECS Bios files needed

Re: Flash chip write enable
Hi, It doesn't work specifying another board that it's listed as supported. I already tried with specifying other boards that have the support on flashrom page and have the ICH7R chipset, but it just says that it's aborting to be safe because no suitable board enable was found for the manufacturer a...

Re: Flash chip write enable
I saw that, but the chipset on that board it's ICH8, so i do not know if they have the same GPIO assignment. Will give it a try anyway on my ICH7R chipset with the mainboard option and see what happens. Anyway i will appreciate if someone knows a procedure of finding the needle in the hay stack :) T...

Hello, I am interested how and where should i address the *.rom file of the bios in order to permanently activate the GPIO pin in the chipset that activates the flash ok for the chip. For the moment the TBL pin on the flash chip it's blocked so the Top boot block it's protected. It seems to be like ...

8Mb chip vs 4Mb chip
Hello, I am interested if i can write an 1024 Kb bios file , originally designed for an 8Mb chip to a 4 Mb chip. The problem is that my flash mother board does not see this 8 Mb chip which is a 49LF008A, but the damaged chip which can't be successfully written it's properly identified and this chip ...

Re: Canon notejet BN100
Yes i am also thinking that it could be a propietary BIOS but for the moment it's a mystery. The bios battery it's dead, i will try to change it and see what will happen. It can be a video init error as it shows nothing even connected to an external monitor . Thank you for the reply. Have a great ye...
