Nforce2 boards do use 3.3-V LPC flash chips. A7S333 has a 5-V parallel flash chip (my guess is based on the other boards that use SiS chipsets). No idea about A7N266, most likely LPC too? Peel off the stickers that's on the flash chip and see what's printed on it.

Why? The uncompress routine is also replaceable, isn't it?

B. The DFI G586OPC case no 1: After thorough investigation I finally noticed, that the CPU voltage is on the level 0.61V instead of 2.8V or 3.3V, which means there is a real problem on the voltages. This is probably due to some burnt component/s somewhere on the mobo, which may be really impossible...

Code: Select all

bp-4_51 /h
says:

Code: Select all

/u - "ultrapack": packs 2Mbit/4Mbit-BIOS to 1Mbit (N/A - in development)
As far as I have understood the thing, the main idea behind this are better (more effective) compression routines.

I made the same update as Tomasz some time ago. No problems at all (IIRC it needed CMOS clearing). Just the Phoenix full-screen logo was stupid IMHO. There's also ver. C, you can try this one if you need to update the BIOS.

Do the normal read/write operations (after boot-up) work? Didn't find any information concerning that in your long post

That's weird...
Without the BIOS ROM onboard there should be no POST codes at all (i.e. there is something like 88, FF or 00 on the display of the POST card).

Re: Soltek SL-75KV+

I restarted my computer a couple of times and it worked! But when I (shuted)? off the Computer,I couldn´t start it again. It ran only one second and cheep one long time and then it shut(ed)? down! Maybe CPU overheat protection is enabled? If it doesn't get the tach signal from the CPU fan, it will ...

http://members.tripod.com/~bbright/info ... stcard.htm for example.

A good link IMHO but unfortunately only in Russian (contains schematics for both PCI and ISA POST cards):

IIRC Rainbow also had some photos of his POST card somewhere here...

Tried W29E011 and guess what? Updating ESCD... Success :) Really big thanks, Rainbow :) I didn't bother to try any other 1M flash chips before because there was written in the manufacturer's documentation that it's for MX28F1000PPC only . So, I guess, one should use his/her brain (and hands) and not...
