Re: Three dead mobo's to reincarnate ...

Sorry, still one more comment, these motherboards did not react at all either to their own BIOS'es, neither still like original nor after re-flashing the right .bin to it. Hei So there's "00" on the display of the POST card no matter what BIOS image you use? I'd start with checking voltages on the ...

Bad news :( But thanks anyway, Rainbow. Haven't found the MX28F1000 datasheet from the net. So I thought that if c't flasher could program the chip correctly (forced to recognize it as 28F1000P), it's compatible enough with 28F1000P. Haven't had absolutely no luck with that board... First modified i...

Modifying flash routines inside the BIOS

Got a Pine TL-BX31 board which had a bad flash chip (MX28F1000PPC). Replaced it with a healthy MX28F1000PC and the board is working fine again. Except a small issue... Namely at every boot get an Unknown Flash Type error after Updating ESCD... message. The problem is that this 28F1000PC flash chip h...

Do you mean the AWDblock utility? It has a bit other purpose.

I'd try another floppy and/or FDD drive.

I'm afraid special version of MODBIN is needed for Asus BIOS's.

You can try to use an old ISA I/O card.

Re: Bios Patcher 4.51 for Intel

I saw that Bios patcher 4.51 was out and I even got a copy of it but the one I found was only for AMD I think. It's a special beta version which can enable the sofware multiplier control feature for "mobile" AMD processors. Although it should do the same job (without the /a option) as the earlier v...

I will hold my breath :)
If I now understood correctly, you plan to use LinuxBIOS as a replacement of the original Award(AMI?) BIOS in a standalone PC (i. e. not some kind of network boot or similar device)?

Congrats :)
BTW you're not the only one who has fixed his DFI board (AFAIK it was also one of these Lanparty boards; had exactly the same symptoms) with this small utility.

AFAIK all Nforce2 boards have LPC flash chips. So voltage and pinout will match for sure. What does it do with other versions on AWDflash (or maybe even with AMIflash and/or Uniflash)? And if you get your DFI working, don't kill it again with too high FSB frequency (yes, it's capable of very high FS...
