Did the flash complete? Was the power interrupted during the flashing? If you can remove the PLCC chip and can reprogram it, then thats is whats going to have to happen. Do you have access to a raw .bin or .rom file from the manufacturer? If you need help with file extraction, please post here. Joe

I don't think Award or AMI flashers will work with Compaq image files. What compaq does is only reprogram part of the EERPOM with the update, they don't clear and reprogram the whole EEPROM. Internally check the connector that goes from the motherboard to the CD Rom socket inside the laptop.

System should still boot without that setup partition present, you may have issues with the hard drive controller/cable/on drive settings.
