Did the flash complete? Was the power interrupted during the flashing? If you can remove the PLCC chip and can reprogram it, then thats is whats going to have to happen. Do you have access to a raw .bin or .rom file from the manufacturer? If you need help with file extraction, please post here. Joe

Download the Rompaq again and create the flash disk. Insert the disk into the A drive and see if it reads the disk, boot block may already be starting.. If it does not read the disk, look on the bottom of the unit (below an expansion doors) for a set of jumper pads, that may need to be shorted in or...

Look for a pin hole on the side or the bottom of the laptop, if you stick something thin in there that will usually reset CMOS. Try and press the power on buttin and hold it for 5 seconds, does that turn off the system? If it does then the system is at least responding.. If it does not power off the...

I don't think Award or AMI flashers will work with Compaq image files. What compaq does is only reprogram part of the EERPOM with the update, they don't clear and reprogram the whole EEPROM. Usually when you unpack a downloaded "RomPaq" it creates files sized 143k, 164k or 183k ect ect in sizes.. On...

BIOS may be disabling the secondary channel because it's not seeing anything connected.

Internally check the connector that goes from the motherboard to the CD Rom socket inside the laptop.

System should still boot without that setup partition present, you may have issues with the hard drive controller/cable/on drive settings.
