486 bios are very difficult to come by especailly for large HD support. I would look at a EIDE card instead of a software solution. Check www.pricewatch.com for cards. I have seen them as cheap as $13.

Yes but we are talking about one that support 40 gig and has it's own bios routines. Do you really need 40 gig?

Assuming that you have turn off ACPI, click setting, control panel, power options. Now configure APM for your laptop, save and reboot.

As always.... do not run ACPI and APM together.

When you first start the system you will see a msg that says something....

Press DEL to enter Setup or Press DEL for Setup

Each motherboard is slightly different.... Check each section and see if USB is enabled.

Contact the place you bought it from and ask what the return policy is. I think I would ask for a new board as it is less than 30 days old.

Don't try to run Bios ACPI and Winblows APM together. It will be obvious that they don't get along. I usually have better luck turning ACPI off and using APM if at all.
