The boot disk can be DOS, Win98 or what ever as you are working with the hardware and not the op/file system.

Generally its not adviseable to use another bios from the a different computer even though it made by the same company. You could always try to flash another chip and keep the orginal as a backup. But your best bet is to install a EIDIE card with onboard bios.

I would say no.... The BXP shows bios version 4 andit is the release level version. The BX version (http://www.bcmcom.com/tech/QS440bx/qs440bxbios.asp) shows 2.10 is current and the the 32 meg problem was fixed in 2.6.1. Try an email to BCM tech support... they might even answer.

If it is an Award bios you might try Modbin. But, you need a copy of the bios so you can make the changes and reflash it.

Oooops my mistake.... Assuming you could get a bios that had a 66/100 fsb to work you still might have a stability problem. The board is just to old to a whole lot to.

I think i must be missing something.... If you have USB ports on your 1st system and don't have them emabled. Why not just get into bios via del. Fx, Esc or what ever is need by your system and enable the appropiate features, save and reboot. I assume that you what to hot flash the bios for the 2nd ...

Generally speaking ... NO do not swap a bios from another board. The reasons are chipset differences, timings and whole lot of other things that won't match. Either try a hot flas per faqs or get a new chip burned loacally or try Bad Flash.

Obviousely the bios will not support it and the OEM won't fix it. So, either use drive overlay software or put a addin EDIE card.

As I read the info on the Intel web site it states that this is the one and only bios - IE production level P17 if remember correctly. Therefore why upgrade if what you have is what you are upgrading too??????

See if you can get the drive parms.... heads, cylinders, sectors per track and then see if there is a user setting in the bios for the Primary drive. Drive type 46 is used in many cases.
