use the headphone output. you need a 3,5mm phone stereo plug to cinch adapter.

Re: IBM Thinkpad 600E bios mod for processor update

and find a reasonably priced 8G or 16G CF module that works correctly (i.e. supports DMA) the faster CF cards (120x and above) have to support DMA out of the box since speeds above ~120 are only achievable with (U)DMA. PIO4 is only capable of 16,6MB/s. in the past the problem was that there were CF...

Re: How can we protect our bios from recovery softwares ?

depends on what you want to protect: the hardware, the base installation (OS) or the data written to the drive. first of all: BIOS passwords are a joke. if the attacker has physical access to the computer none of the inbuild security measures will help. even if you manage to keep someone from changi...

Re: IBM Thinkpad 600E bios mod for processor update

setting up samba in utbuntu is very easy. just head over to the ubuntu user support forum. there's a nice step-by-step howto :) you could also fiddle with the vcore chip on the mainboard that evaluates the processor VID pins. at least that's how i tend to reduce the vcore on any mainboard. there you...

Re: 1366x768 resolution problem with KSOM+

once you uninstalled the driver and rebooted Windows uses its build-in VESA driver. even if you install SiS' driver then, you still have to reboot first to activate it. say 'thank you, Windows'. anyway: you can install from .inf and setup.exe. it hardly makes any difference. installing it from .inf ...

Re: IBM Thinkpad 600E bios mod for processor update

dump the harddisk and buy an IDE->CF adapter and a compactflash card. CF cards do behave like normal IDE harddisks. the compactflash cards support UDMA (and so do all modern ide->cf adapters). since the CF interface is nothing else than IDE there's no bus signal conversion chip necessary. To the ext...

Re: Pentium II OverDrive Microcode Update to AMI BIOS

the microcode updates have nothing to do with the processor recognition mechanism. my educated guess: the BIOS doesn't like the CPUID of the P-II Overdrive which is 0x1632. the first klamath cores had 0x0633 and the deschutes cores (which is the core of the P-II overdrive) had 0x0650, 0x0651, 0x0652...

Re: BIOS patch for widescreen support? / MX46-533V II

i haven't found anything looking for "MX46-533V II". however it could be an OEM version. maybe edwin knows something?
in the meantime you could make a backup copy of your current BIOS so i can take a look at it and maybe patch it.

Re: VGA

you have to buy a vga->composite converter. but i'd rather go for some other solution since the picture quality of those converters is really bad.

Re: Need BIOS patch for P4S8X-MX

sorry, no way to have 1366x768 with the SiS windows driver. and with SiS hardware slowly disapprearing, i doubt that i'll ever start disassembling the video BIOS to inject new resolutions just for the Windows guys out there. go and install Ubuntu, enjoy the 3rd party SiS driver and all the funky res...

Re: widescreen 1366x768 problem

@Deniss: is there knowledge about what resolutions are supported in what version of the SiS vbioses? i tried decoding the inbuild modelines a while ago but i didn't get anything useful. at least nothing that would have told me how those modelines in the bios exactly work. i'll take another look at ...

Re: 1366x768 not supported ??

hmm, so VGA SiS CANT make 1366x768? if you don't believe me: go and grab a recent linux live cd (distribution doesn't matter) which includes the linux SiS driver. go and set the desktop to 1366x768 and watch how the SiS hardware can generate proper native LCD resolutions (of virtually any size). lo...
