Re: Gericom Webshox Per4mance 34AS1 1680x1050

look, excuse me while i repeat myself: a newer video bios will do the following things to your notebook: 1. no display on the main LCD unless you flash back to an unmodded bios 2. enable you to use 1440x900 (apparently 1680x1050 doesn't work, 1366x768 surely doesn't work) on an external LCD if you u...

Re: Gericom Webshox Per4mance 34AS1 1680x1050

first thing: if i patch the bios, the main lcd will stay black as long as the patched bios is flashed. reason: missing init code for video bridge in the recent vga bios. still if i patch it in it won't display 1680x1050 with those SiS Windows drivers anyway. it's a driver issue. please consider usin...

Re: Modifying VIA vb8001 phoenix awad bios v6.00pg

why would you want to change the CPU vendor to "GenuineIntel"?

you can always overclock the cpu by raising the FSB. there are (Windows) tools out there that can reprogram the PLL on-the-fly that generates the FSB clock.

Re: Packard Bell MV35 - dual core CPU upgrade!(need help)

you can start by disassembling the cpu init routines. if you can extract modules try the main module or anything that contains the CPU names in clear-text. look for CPUID and continue from there. i recommend to download the "Intel® 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer’s Manual". believe me ...

Re: Microcode for PIII-S 1.4GHz please?

80Plus is 100% ATX 2.2 ATX 2.2 doesn't define effiency, 80plus does. just for starters: find out what PFC is for and what it has to do with efficiency. sum up the wattage of the different voltage rails (assuming they are independend of each other) and compare it with 420W. Such as, improper connect...

oops, i thought you were running a 66MHz FSB. anyway, still quite good for such an old system :)

Re: IBM Thinkpad 600E bios mod for processor update

the read speed looks quite promising for a 66MHz FSB system :)

btw.
you can use a single opamp to generate a square-signal, too.

Re: Microcode for PIII-S 1.4GHz please?

Xilence 420W Xilence is a low cost and low quality brand. you should really get something better. if you don't want to spend too much money, i'd recommend the cheaper 80PLUS PSUs from Seasonic or BeQuiet. the brand really doesn't matter. make sure it has a 80PLUS logo (or better). They *only* die f...

take a look at this page: http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=66cc26a2c88ef010VgnVCM100000f5ee0a0aRCRD&locale=en-US&reqPage=Legacy put a jumper to pins 1+2 to limit the drive capacity to 32GB. your machine will boot up fine (e.g. get past the flaky BIOS hdd detection). once you've loaded...

Re: Microcode for PIII-S 1.4GHz please?

is the microcode error purely cosmetic? yes. Or does it affect performance? no. microcode updates come with Windows and are loaded on bootup anyway. the board sometimes gets the VID as 1.28v instead of 1.45v [...] Maybe the microcode can help with this. no, the microcode doesn't do anything to the ...

Re: Need info on ASUS CUV4X-DLS CPU support

there's nothing fancy about tualatin support for anything that is Slot1 or Socket 370. i used to mod those PPGA only boards (with 100MHz FSB at least ofcourse) for FCPGA. quite simple (only 2 pins removed from the socket and one short) and yet effective. those 100MHz FCPGA P3s even ran with 1,3v. yo...
