Which version do you need? The 128KB or 256KB BIOS?
I have both, but they're before 8/1999, so you won't get native support for HDDs over 32GB, if that's what you were after.

...although you may have lost some other kind of support, like for large HDDs...

The not-updated portion is usually the bootblock. This usually doesn't require updating.

You might have a problem with your BIOS chip, though, just as you suspect. Try to replace it with an identical one, if possible, and you might have to resort to hotswapping (FAQ).

Any nearby electronics shop will do just fine.

Why don't you tell us your BIOS ID string first? If it's of 8/1999 (AWARD) or later, it should support 60GB.

Carefully check the area close to the keyboard connector. If you see something like V1.2 or V3.0, etc., then it's 99% likely to be PCCHIPS.

Most Crusader boards are simply renamed DFI boards. Check for an identical board at DFI.

I've had several BIOS images (mobos and VGA) flashed on EPROMs at electronics shops (external programmer). It does work.
