What I actually want to know is how the Chipset Registers (memory only) should look with the various mbit technologies installed.
By MemSizing-procedure, which initialize memory-controller. Look this code in the end of bios-file, before BB, for 2Mbit usualy at 36000h in Award bios.

1. Find 2Mbit flashrom and use last 2mbit bios. 2. Get "Mem_Size" procedure from 2Mbit- bios to 1Mbit bios: - Copy block at 36000-36FFF from 2Mbit to 1B000-1BFFF of 1Mbit. - change enter point to this - 9860 in the end block change to 98B0. - recalculate both checksums - "Mem_Size" and "bios_files"....

I guess there shouldn't be any problems as both flash chips have Parallel Programming (PP) and LPC interfaces, I've checked out the datasheets, but isn't PP used for fast factory programming with programming equipment while FWH/LPC for in-system programming ? Under "PP" i implied "old", "usual" fla...

It's weird because it seems to me that VIA 8377/8237 can work with 4Mbit flash EEPROMs as MSI KT6 Delta has 4Mbit (524,288 bytes) firmware updates : So why do you think 4Mbit flash EEPROMs may not work ? Because KT600 use "by default" only flashrom with PP-interface (including MSI KT6 Delta), but A...

One more thing, ASUS A7V600-X benefits from this specific support too ? Run with "-Asus" key. If don`t correctly work (most certainly so be it for 4Mbit-bioses) change: if AsusUsed then begin if Map then AsusEnable else AsusDisable; ROMEnabled:=Map; {Exit; <- comment this string} end;

one is platform.bin
and the other is the rom file
It`s standart for Phoenix bioses.
If "bios.rom" file is 128/256/512kB - is BIOS image.
"platform.bin" - has mobo/flashchip specific routines used by phoenix-flasher for update BIOS.

Hm - is a problem? Extract to diskette your bios-files. File with size=512kB is bios image.

You have 4Mbit (512kByte) bios/flash. For Phoenix 0-7FFFF of "bios.rom" file is a bios image. Cut this block to other file and flash it to EEPROM.

49LF040 = LPC interface
39SF020A = PP interface
Use for hotswap nVidia- or K8-mobos.
