Re: Looking for BIOS upgrade for old Packard Bell system

http://gunkies.org/wiki/Windows_NT On the i386 the maximum memory supported is 64MB (which was common limitation of ISA machines back then). I have a gut feeling that a reasonably recent build of Linux will see all 128MB as will Windows 2000. In the mean time I am hunting down the bios update for yo...

Did you do a "reset bios to defaults" + "save and exit" after the flash?

Re: How do I reset Aspire E5-571G Insyde BIOS supervisor password?

1) I think they want proof of purchase as well. The reason is this: even though you may be a totally honest person trying to make a living, we have no guarantee at all, everybody can be everybody on the internet. As such, we cannot assist with BIOS password issues or any other security circumventive...

Re: Computer still not booting after BIOS flash

I removed the battery and installed another one.
That another one was new, like "fresh out of the blister package" new?

I am clutching at straws too here. Is this a retail MSI board or an OEM one from a branded machine like Packard-Bell?

and after trying a number of "things" I
please put in an exhaustive list of what you tried as I suspect replacing the memory and checking the power supply for bloated capacitors are not in that list of "things"

Re: Samsung 439 for Windows 10

replacing it with WiFi module from another manufacturer (eg Atheros AR5B225) or using an external USB WiFi module.
So either Atheros or Intel WiFi modules seem to work in Windows 10.

I would start on the pins of the actual keyboard connector as that is close and any traces leading there as they may have been eaten by the acid from the NiCd cell...

Re: Samsung 439 for Windows 10

From what I see here: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/windows10-update/ and here: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/05/31/windows_10_samsung_fail/ they simply are not supporting windows 10 at all on your laptop. However, here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insid...

Ok, if you can make it into windows, flash the bios again with the utility from MSI, but this time run it as Administrator. Because I have a feeling that is what went wrong the first time...

Re: Computer not starting after BIOS flashed

Hi, First of all, try a fresh new CR2032 3V lithium coin cell battery. If that is empty, your machine will appear to be dead. If that doesn't do the trick, we'll have to go to barebones setup meaning disconnecting drives etc to see if we can make the bare minimum combination (CPU,motherboard, one me...

I gave a link to the bios update for that Acer system. In the same way you need to find a bios update for your system at Packard Bell support.

Re: need bios update MS CUBA MS-7301

I don't know where you found information that the E8xxx CPUs are supported. The chipset on your board does not support them: http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-VIA_(chipsets)/P4M890.html That is a hardware limit that cannot be overcome with any software, BIOS or otherwise. It is not just the FSB but also...

Re: Gateway 2000 4DX2-66V - Bios Update

So not only you have a working system but also a disk image that you can restore. Well done sir, and thank you for sharing this method, this took some out of the box thinking (pun intended).
