that 1997 date is the date of the bios CORE which hasn't changed. Only the very basic functions are within the core. It means they've written a good one considering it has lasted for more than three years. It isn't important to you and frankly I don't understand why these utilities are showing this ...

Aptiva 2xxx-xxx please fill in the xxx's. Can be found on the back of the machine. I'm unsure if you can find actual screenshots. What would you be needing them for?

On the top surface in the corner near the keyboard connector there should be a version number. There may be a sticker QC OK over it, remove that so you can see what it is. If no number: first known revision which would be 3.0

Hmm, interesting. You're paying $10 for the bios upgrade. Something tells me we have to wait for someone to buy the kit and be kind enough to share the bios. I doubt it will show up at either the asus or powerleap site anytime soon...

Do I understand you have installed XP out of the box, not as an upgrade and you have done this yourself?

the 1014 beta 001 is dated Jan. 9th 2002, I think chances are pretty slim there is a newer one...
