Re: Beta BIOS from DFI

http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Download/download_us.jsp?CATEGORY_TYPE=MB&INDEX_TYPE=MB&STATUS_FLAG=B then click on the Beta Site link, wait for the next page to load, and then choose your motherboard. There is a BIOS for your board/rev that says "Recognize 40 GB HD", but given the date of the BIOS, i...

just got a new 60 gig hard drive from maxtor to replace the broken one. I made a win 98 boot disk and ran fdisk. Fdisk reports the size of the drive as 504 mbs. The cmos recognized it fine as 60 gigs. I don't want to try to format the drive for fear of breaking it like the other one. Could the new ...

Re: HD

It appears you have an MSI MS-6119 motherboard with BIOS version 2.7 which has an "Update date" of June 14 1999. It is probably the "MSI Standard" version of the motherboard rather than the "CPU Plug and Play" version. There are different BIOS's for the different versions of the motherboard. http://...

Did you try to clear CMOS? Page 15 of the P2L-B motherboard manual.

Re: P2L-B BIOS

Should be able to get the latest Beta BIOS at:

http://www.asus.com/support/download/it ... Name=P2L-B

and click on the Beta button on the top. Looks like a BIOS from August 2000.

Re: 64 MB PCI cards

The post to the ASUS newsgroup on the TX97-XE was mine. I did not try the PCI card as a 2ndary card in an AGP system. I did try them as the primary display device in a an AGP capable Super7 motherboard (Epox MVP3G5) to see if they were okay, and they worked fine. Both systems had 350W power supplies.

Re: Old Everex

Go to

http://www.esupport.com/biosagent/index.cfm

and download and run the BIOS Agent program, then post the info it gives here. It may help identify the motherboard, which would tell us a lot more.

Re: ddd

Probably the microsoft fdisk issue for large hard drives, described here

http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... us;q263044

You can download an updated fdisk if that is the problem.

Re: Epox mobo

1. I don't think so. Maybe they can patch it here.

2. There's also the AWARD 64 GB bug

3. Unknown to me

4. The 4.51 is part of the AWARD descriptor, and is not updated by updating the BIOS. The date (04/11/00) means that you have successfully flashed the latest official BIOS.

Go to http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/manual/mnu/spt_mnu_detail.php?UID=230&NAME=MS-5182 and download the manual. It's in a self expanding executable file. File/Section 2 of the manual has dip switch settings for "CPU Core Speed Derivation Procedure". You can set the "CPU clock frequency" (als...

If you know the name of the mobo, some of the PB systems listed under http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/pb/mb/pbmb.htm have BIOS for download. May not be yours, but maybe.

Re: BIOS

One option probably would be to purchase the 2 MB BIOS chip from Epox. ftp://ftp.epox.com/motherboard/support/FAQ/accessory-purchase.pdf A similar example was with EP-MVPGM 1 MB version BIOS' which had no K6-x+ support. Owners purchased the 2 MB version in order to get the support. Of course patchin...
