Uniflash issue with larger capacity flash ROM

Hi, Rainbow. After having used Uniflash for practically all the hotflashes I did for several months now, I could now give it an A rating. This is my own personal rating, however. Also, if you could help me how to flash a 256Kb bios image into a 512Kb flash ROM, that would be much appreciated. Unifla...

Yes, it's 3 DIMM slots.

But I haven't written down the BIOS ID string since the entire bios image is corrupted and so the board can't boot.

Right, should be an OEM board. But I wonder if there is indeed a 512Kb bios image for this board, for the fact that all bios updates posted in Asus website since the time of production are all 256Kb. This makes me think that maybe the 256Kb Award bios images posted by Asus are already complete (i.e....

Yes, I have tried the PCChips Lottery. But the closest model is M748LMRT. I did not find any exact match when it comes to motherboard component layout.

AJZCHIPS: please help.

ASUS Bootblock file

Hi BIOS Gurus, I need to revive a corrupted BIOS image for ASUS P4T mainboard. Although the BIOS chip is soldered, I've managed to detach it from the mainboard and now in a position to hotflash it on another board using Uniflash. The chip is SST 49LF004A which is obviously a 4Mbit 3.3V-only flash RO...

That's a sure sign of corrupted bootblock. Hotflash or replacement bios chip are your remaining options.

Denniss: Thanks for your reply.

But the datasheet for this W49F002U chip can be easily downloaded from the website of Winbond. I even have a copy myself.

To Rainbow: When can this issue be possibly fixed in Uniflash?

Uniflash problem with W49F002U

I noticed that Uniflash could not write successfully to W49F002U flash ROM. I have tried at least 5 known good chips (flashed successfully with AWARDFLASH), and all tests resulted in write error with the majority of blocks being skipped. I changed motherboards (VIA and SIS chipsets) but got the same...

From Drive A: Floppy Drice LED comes on for a while and you hear the typical grinding sound when the drive is accessed. You also see this on your screen: "Starting Windows 98", or "Starting Caldera DR-DOS", etc. From Primary Master: Of course, you don't see above indications and you immediately see ...

If I understood you right, you mean extract the BIOS image 10 times with different filenames for each instance then do a binary file compare, correct?

Is this "fc /b" available in Uniflash?

I see your point, and the flash ROM needs to be in FWH mode to be able to communicate with the chipset (as Uniflash would be used to do the hotflash).

And do you think flashing this 3.3V flash ROM is possible on a 5V system if the supply voltage is changed to 3.3V?

I don't believe the BIOS image could get corrupted by making such changes in CMOS settings.
