Hi Miskacy,

This BIOS is indeed limited to 32GB but I've send a patched version to your e-mail address. :)
Please let us know how it works.

Hi Willy, I don't think you need an mrbios update to run the Spectra K6-2/400. The latest SY-5EA BIOS should do just fine. Check if you run the EA-D5 BIOS now with BIOS-ID 10/23/97-EQ82C6618A-ETEQ-2A5LDS29C-00. If you have an older version, you can download 5ea-d5.bin from http://www.soyousa.com/dow...

Szymon, I had some time this week to disassemble the 541WUQ10 BIOS, and I believe I can patch it for the Winchip. :) Can I send it to the address below your name? Yes, I believe you are correct and that the bootblock of the Q13 and Q20 BIOSes are incompatible with the Intel flash chip. And using ori...

Hello Szymon,

That would be a job for me.
I've been patching BIOSes for added CPU support (mainly K6+) for the past few years. I will check the 541WUQ10 BIOS to see if it can be patched for the Winchip and report back.

This 400MHz CPU speed indication limit is just a cosmetic issue in this and a lot of other 1998 socket 7 BIOSes. De PC is actually running at 450MHz when you set it to 2x=6x 75MHz. You can check this with a CPU Identification utility like CPU-Z from http://www.cpuid.com or Chkcpu from my homepage. T...

For compleness sake, I've just uploaded a patch J.3 BIOS for the Tekram P5MVP3-A4 (2Mb)/-B4 to my k6plus page. Apart from K6+ support, it has IDE HDD support upto 128GB.

Hazeki, you only need this BIOS if you want to use a drive greater than 64GB, so you can stay with the official V1.15 BIOS for now.

stemd,

I have patched the 0207-2 BIOS for the Asus T2P4 for full 128GB support.
It has been tested and works with IDE drives upto 120GB.
You can download a copy from my k6plus page via the link below.

The patched 661vs155 BIOS send to you by Rainbow is identical to the one I send to Oscar Lago. He is reporting the same setup hang with drives above 64GB, so I assume that our patching method did not correct all 64GB limit bugs in this BIOS. The important ones are fixed however so the patched...

Nick, Thanks for the tips, but this could very well be a BIOS issue. FYI KachiWachi is using my patched BIOS for Cyrix M2 and AMD K6+ support. Everything worked oke with the Cyrix, but it hangs with a K6-2+/450. POST appears to be succesful (CPU type and speed are indicated correctly) but hangs at V...

oknet,

To satisfy your curiosity, take a look at the GA586HX BIOS Modifications page from Petr Soucek.

The on this page described First- and Seconds Modifications are both in the patched BIOS send to you by NickS,

Rainbow, Just a technote: This BIOS has the "old style" code with insufficient space to do the 15 byte patch from Petr. Instead of providing the solution available via AWD64GB -32, I developed a new patch that leaves the original code intact and put the fix in a separate subroutine. Here are the det...

Rainbow, I'm using this MODBIN trick under Windows for several years now and it works every time, both with MODBIN 4.50.77 and 4.50.82a. But it can only be used to make changes in the first 64KB part of ORIGINAL.TMP (E000:0000-FFFF). For changes in the high 64KB part (F000:0000-FFFF) the LHA method ...

Oke, I will start the story with the explanations I send xiaonian by e-mail. It addresses the speed indication limitation for non-Cyrix CPU in Award BIOSes from around 1998. Patching BIOSes is not difficult but can be very time consuming. There is no general recipe for this and you have to disassemb...

apoorva, I've just finished patching this HOT-661 V1.1/V2.0 BIOS (6610S074) from 05/31/1999. Apart from fixing the 32GB bug, I was able to remove 64GB limit bug as well, so the IDE drive support stretches now upto 128GB! :) I send the BIOS to your Yahoo address. Please let us know how it works with ...
