There is no Virus in the Bios. The CIH will try to erase the Bios but not place himself there. Why do you think there is a Virus in it? There is a simple boot sector protection built into the Bios (Bios Features -> VirusWarning) which will try to pop up a window, whenever any program tries to modify...

AFAIK the flash memory writer for Award and AMI stuff does not really care for the content of the flash-rom image. They are only able to leave out the boot-block option, or not. Everything else is re-written just straight. Are you sure about the boot-block being located at different locations? Doesn...

Get the sischip util to identify the chipset. IIRC I could be the chipset, which was available in four slightly different versions: -two different pinouts (for desktop and notebooks) -with or without built in vga (ok, always built in, but switched off) All four had different numbers, but were actual...

http://th2chips.freeservers.com/ -> M506 The latest Award Beta Bios does support drives over 8 (and up to 32) GB. I'll try to patch this thingy in next future and will hopefully be able to have a bios, which is able to handle up to 64GB. BTW: These boards usually have an (E)Prom installed. Bye Thomas

See
http://www.flexus.nl/bios_update.htm
Says the Bios for the F61 should work for you.
This will give you an End of 98 Release instead of the 96 one,
Bye

Hi Some manufacturers (AFAIK Gigabyte, maybe others as well, called LiveUpdate or similar) offer a Windows Tool which does connect to the manufacturers website, check there for latest upgrades and flash them if the user wishes to do so. This is not a feature built into the Bios itself (and never wil...

Solutions: 1. Capacity clipping jumper (that's what you did). 2. Add-On PCI IDE controller and (rather new): 3. Patch the Bios (You can add up to 64GB then). If you feel confident enough (in us and yourself) we can send you such a patched Bios, without any kind of warranty. Just say "Yes, please". W...
