But Does Uniflash use platform.bin? I read that this file is neccesary for flashing phoenix bios. If the bin file is the correct size for the chip then yes, uniflash will flash it, providing of course that it recognizes the chip on the other motherboard your using to hotflash with, you say the chip...

I have a Microcode Updater that I found in some cases works were ctmc wont as it has the option/switch that forces it to update regardless of bios types/brands, where I found the ctmc wouldn't work with some OEM bios's, this particular utility does... Doesn't XP play games if you make changes to the hardware if it's a
non vlk version, activation is based on hardware, i'm sure iv'e read
that certain hardware changes are acceptable, & some aren't.

Often if I flash a chip onboard & am too lazy to remove the case cover
i'll boot to dos with uniflash on the floppy & choose to clear the cmos
from the menu options, turn it off for a while then back on and reset
defaults.

But, if the original drive is giving the same error you have a cabling problem which you should solve first. Or perhaps even a jumper setting problem. Iv'e been caught out by following the diagram for jumper settings listed on the drives & had no end of greif only to find the manufacturer listed to...
