With it being a laptop, your best bet would be to have it sent off and professionally reflashed....

Yes Windows and Linux can run on the same machine. But not at the same time.

Its called Dual Boot. And is fairly easy to setup a dual boot system. I would recommend using a second hard drive for the second OS, so that you don't flub up your current OS.

You would need to somehow get the entire BIOS erased and start fresh with the new HP version. Exactly how to do this and how dangerous it is I don't know for sure.

Well for one, these dont have "manuals" per say. There is some documentation availible....

BUT I am not able to find a Presario 5WV350. Double check the model number and post back....
