Mercury=Kobian, so it sounds like a Kobian Slot 1 board with an Intel chipset....the board lastely is mercury

I neglected to mention that the P55-TV also has a cache slot next to the CPU. Yes, the boards are different - the P55-VX doesn't have the cache slot or DIMM, 3 ISA, 4 PCI, 4 SIMMs and is an AT board. There are diagnostic LEDs at the rear of the case - have a look at them when the system is POSTing and make a note of their colours when it hangs. If you have the manual there should be a troubleshooting section that explains possible problems and what to do to fix it, or post what you find here and...

The MSI K7T series motherboards are notorious for the capacitors failing. Have a look at the larger ones in particular - if any are bulging or there are signs of electrolyte leakage this is likely the problem that it won't POST. Info available here:
