Interesting results here... Just installed HDTach 2.61 and tested the combination. HD was not limited by mfgr's software, 40-pin cable used, Windows98SE drivers used (did not install the ALi downloadable ones). BIOS set to PIO-3, Windows DMA enabled: 14.9 ms Random Access Time 10 mbps Read Burst Str...

edwin - thing is MemTest86 (v3.0) says there are no errors...is one program more effective than the other here?? I'm running overnight tests with many passes. What is weird is this (with GoldMemory)... I have a matched set of 64MB EDO in 4 sticks. As a set of 4, they fail all over the place. But in ...

Just to update... Flashed the board up with the patched BIOS from here (Large HD Support) and tried the 40GB Seagate. Detected fine as such. Have it locked at PIO-4 until I get some more feedback on my previous response to UDMA. Still having weird memory errors when using GoldMemory, but I e-mailed ...

Did you install the Disk Wizard Disk Manager? Not sure how that affects UDMA...perhaps others can speak on that. BIOS posting ULTRA DMA, PIO4 seems odd...but not familliar with how an AMI would show that...would think it would be one or the other and not both. Windows posting GENERIC IDE DISK TYPE47...

Yes...AWARD BIOS...patched version for 32GB HD bug is even available here... OK... So then if you boot to DOS (mode), what Mode is the drive in, assuming it is set in the BIOS to UDMA? How can the drive force a Mode on a BIOS that it doesn't know about? The drive doesn't "send data" to the BI...

I have to correct myself... IDE Primary/Secondary Master/Slave PIO - Auto, 0-4 IDE Primary/Secondary Master/Slave UDMA - Auto, 0-2, Disabled So I guess by setting the UDMA to Disabled, no UDMA transfer modes will be available via the BIOS...or in Windows (98SE in my case). I did confirm this last ni...

Um...guess I should re-phrase... Not sure which BIOS setting to change...there seems to be two... IDE Primary/Secondary Master/Slave PIO - Auto, 0-4 IDE Primary/Secondary Master/Slave UDMA - Auto, 0-4 Which should be set to limit UDMA from turning on? (Just the UDMA (set it to PIO-4) and leave PIO i...

Thanks AJZ for the insight...I'll have to fiddle some later. As for the UDMA/33 bug, can that be disabled in the BIOS? (I didn't see any feature to do that.) The drive that will go in as I said can support UDMA/66, and I've downloaded the WD tool for setting that...however it makes no mention of dis...

It's been a while, but... SUCCESS!! Jan's patch for the 32GB bug worked. I was able to borrow a Seagate Barracuda ATA IV ST340016A, 40GB, 7200RPM Drive (finally!!) from work. Did both an Auto-Detect and an IDE HDD Auto Detection. Drive was detected as...Seagate ST340016A, LBA, Mode-4 (all I'm capabl...

Problem... The VCore on this board is set like most others...4 jumpers that can set the voltage from 2.0 to 3.5 Volts. No problem here... There is also a jumper JP15 which is only installed to set VI/O to 3.45 Volts when required. For all other VI/O, 3.5 or 3.3 V, it is off. I see no jumper to set V...

But I'll check them out...please...continue to post if you have any more info. UDMA33 bug...even in the pa...
