I have a computer which had a massive power surge. I am wondering if the pentium 4 processor will still work. So my main question is does a processor still work after a power surge that blew the whole motherboard?

i would suggest that you will have to check all of your cable connections from your motherboard to your harddrive. If it still dosent work all i have left to say is that you need to buy another motherboard because it seems to me that your bios is dead.

Is it true that you need to have 2 compatible harddrives in order to make them work? If it is true, can you tell me if a maxtor and a seagate harddrive will work?

What are the risks that i will have to take before i go ahead. I promise that this is the last message for this topic.

If I use the 1998 bios patch will it affect my system and make it permanently unbootable?

I need a Bios patch for a 1997 Bios. Unless I could use the 1998 bios patch.
