I know that thread ended a few months back, but now when i connect a device in the front USB ports, windows xp says that there a power surge on the USB ports. When i go back into the the device manager, i still dont the USB root hub. Whats going on?

I went to phoenix.com and found documentation on my BIOS and found that the beeps were for a checksum error. Is a checksum error nothing to worry about or is it a big issue?

I checked the board for leaking and bulging caps. I did not see any of those and the board still boots up fine. It was only that one time i heard those beeps, but i havent heard them back.

Thanks for the link edwin. The link you gave me had a link for the upgrade advisor software (link down below). I used it and it says my PC is compatible with vista, but only with home basic. i checked in the folder and the file was not there. I could recall it was supposed to be a file called title.wma. There was a web sight that had the steps to find it, but i forgot the name of the site.

Did the HDD manufacturer give you a "setup" disk or CD to do this? Yes when i bought the western digital harddrive it came with a CD. But I dont know if it will let me copy my data and plus I lost the CD. I also have been hearing that western digital drives are not good. So is it going to be reliab...

I am thinking to revert back to windows xp home. The only way i could go back to windows home is to use HPs recovery cds.
