Hiya, Can anyone help me identify the latest BIOS for my eMachines 540? I have tried to add a USB2/Firewire expansion card, but the pc won't boot after installation. The screen just stays blank. Sorry for the length of time I've taken to get back on this one. I've tested the patched bios version R804-64 on my Mitac 6110Zu/Va motherboard. I am using a 40Gb Seagate hard disk and it seems to be recognised OK by the system. I will post again if I come across any problems. Many thanks,

I was going to buy a new hard drive for my computer and transfer the 40 Gb drive into this one (which is actually my girlfriend's computer). Hi, I backed up the old Bios (R400) then flashed the new version (R804). Everything seems fine now, the computer still boots, and the CMOS seems save the date and time at last! I don't know why Mitac customer services were incapable of recognising one of their own products from the same information....
