60GB: 10/14/1999-SiS-5600-ITEB-2A6ILS2AC-00

I'm currently trying to get a Maxtor 60GB HD to work with my Celeron 433Mhz on a Soyo SY-7SBB motherboard. Right now it just hangs when trying to detect the hard drive. I've tried the latest BIOS update from the manufacturer with no luck. Are there any patches available or am I just screwed? Thanks....
