The BIOS-Setup screen is displayed, an then its gone. The keyboard doesn't respond anymore. I have to h...

80 GB: 05/15/97-i440FX-977-2A69HF2GC-00 Freetech P6F77
Hello out there, I wanted to reuse an older motherboard as fileserver for a comrade. The board was a Freetech P6F77 with the i440FX Natoma chipset. Sadly the latest available BIOS was too old to support bigger hdds over 32 or 64 GB. NickS already patched the latest available BIOS for this board to s...

Hi NickS, I got a backup-place for my data and checked some operating systems with the patched BIOS. Windows 98, 2000 Pro and XP Pro install perfectly, no props., no hangs, nothing at all. I could fully access the space of the hdd above 64GB. So this BIOS-Patch works 100%. Great work!;-) Thanks agai...

Hello NickS, the flashing was somewhat hard to complete. I'd already forgotten that the mainboard has some problems with its FDC-Controller, which makes it sometimes impossible to access disk-drives. I remember, that this controller worked in the past (sometimes ;-)), but during weekend it refused t...

Hi NickS, as promised, here the results of my Windows 2000 - installation - marathon. First of all, the limitation of the hdd access speed didn't make any difference, as said. Then I tested all possibilities to access the hdd, including deactivation of BIOS detection of the hdd (as mentioned in some...

Hi NickS, sorry it took a long time to answer. Unfortunately I'll need my server online this week. I'll try to fix the Windows2000 installation problem at the weekend and post the results. I found out that if I let the hdd been autodetected in the bios, it works with PIO Mode 4, but if I let it been...

Hi NickS
Thanks for the hints, I'll check them out.
Besides, is it possible that http://http://wims.rainbow-software.org is down?

Hi, I took WD's DLG and limited the HDD to UDMA 33. Unfortunately this didn't make any difference. :( I really don't know what's the problem. Also I've checked another way to install Windows 2000: I replaced the 80 GB WD HDD by an old 6,4 GB HDD, installed the OS, made an image of the partition and ...

Hello NickS, Thanks for the hint. I already flashed it. It works very fine. The HDD is auto-detectable at the Bios-Auto-HDD- Detection and also works with Auto Settings at Standard CMOS Setup) Thank You very much. This was a big success. :D Then I tested different MS Operating Systems: Windows 98 SE...
