Re: bios error update acer aspire 5742zg
If you can't find a recovery solution, you have to re-write next BIOS flashrom. (Open bottom cover and find it) http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/4977/t650.jpg Chip looks like a Winbond W25Q32 or W25X32. Many programmer supports them. (Your BIOS file is "...\BIOS_Acer_1.30_Windows\DOS\PEW71x64.fd".) ...

Re: Stops at VGA bios screen on Dell XPS
First, you have to check your diagnosis was exact. It may not be a BIOS problem. If you are experienced PC user, you can confirm it with replacing each parts. And, if you can find your M/B original manufacturer, and if it is INTEL, you may use a Recovery Mode. Search a 'Recovery Mode' on intel PDF m...

Sometimes socket and flashrom pins shape can be changed or polluted. And it can make pin-contact bad. Check first these. And did you request the 49LF040B with cor...

Re: ACER Aspire 1600LM Bios Dead
A BIOS is stored to a device it is called FLASHROM on motherboard. So, you can fix the BIOS by rewriting the FLASHROM. And you need a device that can rewrite a flashrom externally. Making a Flashing tool requests a many knowledge. 1. PC and BUS structure. 2. CPU protected mode. 3. Undestanding about address translation(=#CS) of each chipset. 4. Each register function of each chipset. 5. Flashrom programming sequence. 6. Assembly(even inline) and one more programming language. ...

Re: Gateway profile 5 bios flash gone wrong
Pull-out the jumper. (not 1-2 or 2-3) Then, retry update with floppy. I recently replaced an original pata HD in a profile 5 with a 250Gb SATA. The machine only recognized the new drive as 128Gb so I decided to flash to the latest version of the BIOS to see if that would help. BIG MISTAKE..... the m...

Microcode update is not BIOS execution code or CPU detection data.
You must modify a execution code of CPU detection and initialization.

Check your floppy drive. If floppy drive doesn't work(rotate with noise and flashing a front LED), this BIOS doesn't support recovery mode. And K8 are useing a LPC flashrom And LPC flashrom is little unique. Check your flashrom model name. It may be one of 49LFxxx, 39Vxxx or 49Vxxx. They don't have ...

You have to understand about address translation of ISA interface. And Gigabyte GA-7VAX1394-A doesn't have visible ISA pinout(=a18 pin). So you can't use this M/B. And uniflash will erase all data in 39SF040 before write. So, previous programming part will be erase. You can resolve the error with pu...

Re: Programming 3v chips onto boards 5v chips support
Yes, 3V chip will die within a couple of days(or second if bad luck).
glenBT wrote:Is it possibile doing it onto motherboards that support 5v chips and have not jumpers to switch to 3v ?
It will work or 3v chips will get fired?
