Can't get 1440x900 display on asus p4s533-mx sis651

Hello people.
Specific Hello for "cp".

Need a help to get the 1440x900 display on my new 19” wide screen monitor.

From SiS site: "need vBios 2.28 or later"

Current Info:

System: Asus P4S533-MX with Sis 651 chipset
Bios: ACPI Revision 1007 Beta 002 (it is the newest one from ASUS)
vBios: 1.10.08
Adapter type: Sis_650_651_M650_M652_740
Adapter info:
Chip type: SiS 651 Rev 00
Adapter string: SiS compatible VGA
Driver version: 3.83 (there is no 1440x900 resolution yet)

Link to ASUS P4S533-MX 1007 beta002 BIOS:
http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/soc ... 7mx002.zip

Thanks a lot.

Thank You, cp.
But if you sent it by email I got nothing.
May be it is some gmail problem, it can not get .exe files, think so.

Can You send it one more time or may be post the patched bios on rapidshare.com or some same site.

Good Day.

Hey rich.
IMHO Yo pronlem not in BIOS but in Driver.
Because now I have not updated BIOS and 1280 x 1024 resolution is on.
Try this one:
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/v ... _w2kxp.zip
Or from here:

Hi gborka,

I tried the driver you recommended and several other driver from SIS and Asus, but I am still not able to set the resolution 1280 x 1024.

I have updated the motherboard bios to 1007 Beta 002 and I have set the grafic size to 64 MB in bios settings.

Do you have any idea?

Even the oldest Bios should support 1280x1024 resolution unless there's something special.
Is your monitor really capable of 1280x1024 resolution?

Tried deinstall of SIS VGA drivers, reboot and new install of the 3.73 UniVGA3 driver ?

Is 1280x1024 selectable but does not work or does it not show up in the list ?

@gborka: accidently didn't send the email. you should have mail by now :) sorry again for the delay.

@rich: read this and follow the instructions!

the integrated SIS VGAs don't have problems with other resolutions than widescreen (widescreen like 1440x900 and 1680x1050). get the .inf file for your monitor and install the latest SIS drivers.

Big Success! Thank You, cp. O, Great GURU.

vBios updated to 2.30.01 by "ASUS Update Utility" from motherboard drivers disk come with motherboard or Get it from ASUS site.

Driver updated to "uvga3_373". Get it from here:
http://driver.sis.com/graphic/igp/uniVGA3/uvga3_373.zip
or
http://files.3dnews.org/pub/drivers/VIDEO/sis/

Latest versions of drivers get an error: "Can not recognize the device...."

Lyrics: After 6 hours of buttons pushing I have a wide screen with one normal resolution 1440x900. The conclusion is: for regular usage
DO NOT BAY WIDE SCREEN.
Or at list check the device compatibility.

gborka.

Thank you for your support!

We have arround 50 Maxdata PC with this motherboard and want to replace all 15" LCD with 19" LCD.

To get the resolution 1280 x 1024 available I had to deinstall the original driver with Add and Remove Programs, reboot and installing the driver available from Maxdata: SiSXP2K3520.zip http://assets.maxdata.com/?id=105322.

1280x1024 is not widescreen and is supported out of the box even with very old video bios versions (assuming the latest SIS vga driver).
