Ok, so i have spent the better part of the last 8 hours researching this info and i really looked for a way to make this work but looks like im going to have to ask for help with a custom bios.

Here are the chip set specs on this laptop
Controller Embedded in SIS M760
Decoder ESS ES6028
Video Bridge SIS SiS301C
North Bridge SiS® M760
South Bridge SiS® 963L

Ok so i was working with an Averatech 6240 bios v0.60. From some research i found out that the MSI630 laptop is a direct clone.

MSI has this bios revision posted at the link below-

http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func ... rod_no=652

BIOS Type: AMI BIOS
File Size: 281KB
Version: 1.7
Update Date: 2005-09-28
File Name: A1011SMS.170

I successfully updated my bios with the MSI version and everything works great. The problem is that this update had no vbios.

My current SiS graphics Information:
Graphics Engine: Mirage 2
Software Version: 3.84
Driver Version: 3.84
Video Memory: 128
BIOS(OEM ProductRev): 2.16.a3
Video Bridge Chip Type: SiS301

"If your VBIOS version is not 2.28.00 or later, you have to update your BIOS, please contact your board maker or system provider to get BIOS update support."

If someone can put a later Vbios rev into the MSI drivers that would be amazing!

If there is anything i missed let me know ill be around...

Thanks a million!

read the sticky thread in this section. currently there's no way to update a laptop video bios without losing the main lcd.
you can linux with its sis x11 drivers. they support widescreen without the need for a special video bios version. go and blame SIS for their lame windows drivers.

you lose it permanently??? I assumed that meant you could only use one at a time (toggle display). My mistake I guess i read that wrong.

anyway Wow that's just pitiful...

permanently as in as long as you are using the video bios that allows you to use widescreen resolutions. if you flash back to the (latest) original bios, you'll have your lcd back. and no: you can't switch during runtime.
