Hello,

I am having problems with setting 1440x900 resolution on my SIS661FX integrated graphic controller. It appears I would need VBIOS v2.28.00 or higher, but MSI has not released a new BIOS upgrade since 2005. I have already upgraded to the latest video and monitor drivers, that doesn't help.

It is an AWARD BIOS on the MSI 661FM3-V motherboard; the direct download link is:

http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func ... &type=bios

Note: I have followed cp's tutorial on how to replace VBIOS, but the problem is that the SIS 66x BIOS file in the tutorial (330_249.zip) is unreadable by any version of cbrom I could find (2.07, 2.15, 2.20 - all show just two items of garbage, instead of several items like in the tutorial, so I can't extract the new VGA). I have tried exploring other upgraded BIOSes (Gigabyte, ASUS, etc) but again cbrom reports just garbage...

However, cbrom properly shows the contents of my BIOS (the one at the MSI link above), so I would appreciate either getting the extracted VGA file that would work in my BIOS or (preferably) getting the entire MSI BIOS patched with new VGA.

Thanks a lot in advance!

I'm having exactly the same problem as above with a new Acer AL1917W.

Not able to display 1440 x 990. Need VBIOS v2.28.00 or higher. Phoenix will not supply.

BIOS Type: Phoenix-Award
BIOS Date: August 29th 2006
BIOS ID: 08/29/2006-SiS-661-6A7I4E1AC-00
BIOS OEM: 661FX-M7 08/29/2006 6002 - 6.00 PG
Chipset: SiS 661 rev 17
SuperIO: ITE 8705/SiS 950 rev 3 at port 002E
Manufacturer: powerspec4.4a
Motherboard: ps6002

Could you help?

Thanks.
