I recently got a new HP w1907 monitor, which has a 1440 x 900 native resolution. My computer however, won't allow me to choose that resolution. I updated the BIOS on the HP website (I am using a hp pavillion a810n) and I also updated the UniVGA 3 to 3.84 and 3.85. This gave me far more resolution options, but 1440 x 900 wasn't one of them.

What can I do? Surely this computer must be capable of displaying such a resolution.

Heres some additional info on the computer:

HP Pavillion a810n
512 MB DDR SDRAM
SiS 760 / 128 mb Shared Graphics Memory
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 3.15, 10/19/2005

I see it there, but I am directed to a 404 Not Found page when I click on it -- odd because all the other links on that page seem to work.

I just tried to run the BIOS update and I am given a message saying "Proper command line parameters were not passed. No action taken."

Any ideas?

In the folder, there is a 315.rom file, a WinFlash system file, a dll, instruction document, installer, and WinFlash application. I tried using the installer, as I'm unfamiliar with the WinFlash application.

But how? It has for parts for me to update: BootBlock, ESCD Block, DMI Block, Mainblock. By default, bootblock and MainBlock are selected to update. And what is the actual BIOS file? That 315.rom?

Ok I went through it using the settings that were already there on WinFlash, and I can now get the 1440 x 900 resolution.

Thanks for all the help!
