I sometimes come across ISA devices like SB cards redetecting - I think in some circumstances without a BIOS change. Seems to occur because some other device Windows knows about has been added/removed or changed resources. As if a conflict has been resolved but as far as I can tell there are no conflicts (usually) in these circumstances. But I don't recall this happening with all main boards. Which suggests to me that it can obviously occur under a board which has a hardware fault, but otherwise I attribute this behavior to motherboards with poorly written BIOSs.
One reason why I always like to reload a system freshly after troubleshooting and after making all physical hardware changes.
Anyone else experience the same kind of thing?
