I was having problems with a ilink/firewire camcorder and was told to update my bios. I went to compaq and downloaded the bios. Now my system performance is terrible!

I would like the 3.14 bios as well, or whichever bios you recommend for the a8ae-le.

Thank you!

Sorry about the double post, but a HUGE THANK YOU for those bios. The 3.13 bios were so terrible. I contacted compaq about the older version of the bios, they would not provide me with them. They said I had to take it to an authorized repair center. If this flash didn't work, that is where it would have gone. Winflash took care of it.

My machine is running smoothly. Thanks again. :D

EDIT: Holy crap, I can burn at 16x again on my dvd burners. I thought for sure my secondary ide connector had gone bad, and had messed up my drives. When connected to the primary they could read fine, but only burn at 8x when I was lucky. I was even getting random hardware failures when hard drives were connected to that connector. I'll be sure to try a small hard drive on it when I get time.

3.13 bios seems to be pretty jinxed if you ask me. I have never seen so many problems solved by one and the same bios...

I'm trying to open 314.bin in winflash and it's saying that the file is not a bios rom file?

this winflash?

That would be a first.
314.bin is exactly 524288 bytes in size? If not I'll have to send it again.

Note: you do NOT have to unpack the bin file I sent you! Although it has lzh compressed stuff inside, that is how an Award bios file is built!

Same winflash.

Can you send the file again just in case? I didn't try unpacking it or anything else. Just tried to open it straight into winflash and it won't take the file.

Edit: Seems I was using the wrong version of winflash. The link you gave me did the trick. Thanks for all your help.
