Version 3.14 for A8AE-LE
Hi, edwin, I am surprised to discover of this new BIOS. I hope it fixes a myriad of issues with Vista, such as my inability to install anything from an internal DVD drive and a slow Athlon 64. Could you please send me the file as well?

I am also having the same problem with my Compaq Presario SR1830NX. I 'upgraded' to the 3.13 version and it made my CPU go to a constant 100%. Can someone email me the 3.14 version as well? Thank you so much.

Probably because HP is crap. I'll never buy a computer from them again. I've had nothing but problems the entire time with my m7100e. TV tuner was garbage and didn't work in Vista, XP MCE 2005 was preloaded with TONS of junk, memory card reader was pathetically slow and too slow for ReadyBoost, case interior is not convenient for getting around in, tech support is pathetic. I only bought from them because they had a good price, but spending more to build your own PC is worth it just to avoid no-name hardware.edwin wrote:You're welcome. I am still puzzled how HP could release the 3.13 bios which has sooo many issues...

I just realized that you were talking about the BIOS that was sent to you, not where I got the faulty BIOS.Diabolus01 wrote:Yes. Here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/soft ... 75&lang=en.
Well, I haven't received it yet. I guess someone must have noticed their computer came with the BIOS installed and somehow got a copy.Diabolus01 wrote:I just realized that you were talking about the BIOS that was sent to you, not where I got the faulty BIOS.Diabolus01 wrote:Yes. I'm sorry, my email address was hidden and I just realized that now. If anyone can send me the 3.14 BIOS file, thanks! I am using 3.13 now.
Going to 3.14 didn't do much in terms of performance for me. I'm using an Athlon 64 3200+. Probably the effect is best for dual core processors. I noticed about a 15% drop in RAM usage, though, but I don't feel like the computer is faster, likely because a 2 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM are too limiting for Vista
It did cause me to have to reactivate Windows Vista, though, which thankfully was problem-free. I don't have any uninstalled devices, either.

Well I ran WinFlash and selected the 3.14 bios, but it froze right in the middle of installing the new bios. My computer does not have a floppy drive, how can I install the new bios now? I am trying FlashCD right now, but I need a flash program to go with the bios on the CD. Can someone tell me which flash program I should use?
UPDATE: I used BFlash, and it worked perfectly. Thank you Edwin, you are awesome. Also, my performance is back.
You should contact HP with the list of people for whom you had to provide this bios rollback, and there might be a one in a billion chance that they would realize that there is a serious issue here and create an update that does not suck.

Edwin should send it to you shortly.robprov wrote:I too am having nothing but fun with 3.13. Anybody have a second to shoot me 3.14?
Thanks!
