Hello all -

I have a Micron TransPort NX that I'm trying to install a wireless LAN card in. However, every time I insert the card into the PCMCIA slot, the machine freezes. Ejecting the card unfreezes it.

I have run the NXv17m16.exe bios update from the Micron Support site, though the problem still persists.

The laptop hard drive has been reformatted Win2000 is fresh installed with no additional software than the driver disk that came with the card.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. In the meantime I'm adding Win2K SP4 to see if that helps. More data is below.

Laptop: Micron TransPort NX
OS: Win2000
Lan Card: D-Link Airplus G (DWL-G630), H/W ver C2, F/W Ver 3.00

Additional notes: I tried installing 98SE and WinXP on this machine, but the freezing still occured.

I fear this notebook has no CardBus slots

That D-Link is a CardBus adapter.

This is a hardware compatibility problem. You can't do anything about that other than buying true oldfashioned PCMCIA cards, not CardBus cards.
